Holly Hill Farm Equestrian Team

Holly Hill Farm is an active member of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA). As part of our team, riders will participate in weekly group or private lessons and practices to prepare for the show season. Equestrian team members practice at Holly Hill Farm 1-2 times per month and compete from September to April. We compete at five regular season shows to earn points to qualify to compete at Regionals. The top finishers at Regionals then move on to compete at Zones and Nationals.

Participation on the Holly Hill Farm Equestrian Team offers our riders unique opportunities to prepare for collegiate riding formats, earn college scholarships, and enjoy team competition and camaraderie while still showing and succeeding with individual recognition at both the local and national level. The draw format is challenging, even for the most accomplished of riders, and improves the horsemanship of all riders. Our team consists of both middle school riders (grades 6-8) and high school riders (grades 9-12). This is a great way to get experience in the show ring, test your riding skills, build friendships, and spend more time with horses.

Riders do not need to own their own horses to compete in the IEA. Team members practice on school horses at Holly Hill Farm. The competitions consist of flat and over fences on horses provided by the hosting barns. About IEA

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) concept was drawn from the highly successful Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) in order to prepare high school and middle school students for college level riding. The IEA prides itself on introducing students to the equestrian industry and therefore provides competitive riding for the novice level rider (walk, trot, and canter) all the way up to the more advanced open divisions.

Through the IEA, students also have the opportunity to win scholarships towards their college education. In addition, the IEA provides students the opportunity to be recognized by college coaches and recruiters. Last year's IEA riders were offered over $125,000 in college scholarships.
